Necropsies & Histopathology
For necropsies, live animals are preferred. RRDA offers Basic, General, and Comprehensive Protocols:
Basic Protocol (Necropsy Alone):
- Physical examination,
- Euthanasia,
- Ectoparasite exam
- Enteric parasite exam
Bacterial screening for respiratory and enteric pathogens (Bordetella bronchiseptica, Streptococcus pneumoniae, Klebsiella pneumoniae Salmonella spp and any requested bacteria) - Gross dissection and histopathology of any lesioned organs (up to 3 tissues)
- No serology
General Protocol:
- Physical examination,
- Blood Collection
- Euthanasia,
- Ectoparasite exam
- Enteric parasite exam

- General Serology Panel (MPV (MPV1 and MPV2), MVM and NS-1, MHV, Sendai, PVM, MNV, M. pulmonis, GD-VII, and EDIM).

- Blood Collection
- Euthanasia,
- Ectoparasite exam

- Streptococcus pneumoniae, Klebsiella pneumoniae Salmonella spp and any requested bacteria)
- Gross dissection, tissue collection, fixation and processing of major organs (Lung ,Liver, spleen. Kidneys, Salivary glands, GI tract), and any lesioned organs
- Histopathology evaluations of H&E slide preparation and interpretation of major organs (lung, liver, spleen. Kidneys, Salivary glands, GI tract), and any lesioned organs
- Histopathology evaluations of any other organ such as brain, skeletal muscle, and skin are available upon reputes
- General Serology Panel (MPV (MPV1 and MPV2), MVM and NS-1, MHV, Sendai, PVM, MNV, M. pulmonis, GD-VII, EDIM, MAd, Poly, K, Tyz, Ecun, MCMV, and CAR).
- Histopathology of salivary gland, lung, liver, spleen, and kidney, and any lesioned organ or tissue
In addition to the above protocols, the Major Organ Panel is available. This includes a necropsy and histopathology of the lungs, heart, liver, kidneys, and spleen. The Complete Diagnostic Panel includes a necropsy and histopathology of the lungs, heart, liver, kidneys, spleen, brain, salivary gland, stomach, duodenum, jejunum, ileum, cecum, and colon.
RESEARCH SERVICES :
Experimental Pathology Services and Immunohistochemistry services are available on submitted tissues and or slides such as frozen or paraffin sections, for immunostaining, in situ hybridization, and detection of gene expression in cell lines and/or tissues are available on request.
