Authentication Services

Authentication of cell lines is important, allowing scientists to ensure the identity, purity and species of their cells thereby affording confidence in the validity of their work. In addition, in some situations, it may be required by regulatory authorities. The two main methods of authentication MDS offers are DNA profiling and isoenzyme analysis . The characteristics of each are outlined below.

DNA Profiling: Three methods are offered Samples:

Samples for DNA Fingerprint testing should be submitted as either a PBS washed pellet, as a viable culture of at least 1 x 10^7 cells or as a frozen ampoule.

For multiplex PCR or isoenzyme analysis samples should be submitted either as a viable culture (minium requirement is a T75 flask) or as a frozen ampoule.

Duplicate sample submission forms should be submitted, one to be sent as advanced notice, the other to be included with the samples.
