MDS offers gene quantification services ranging from simple plate reading to full services customized assay development, sample testing, and data analysis project, to experimental design, consulting, planning; and proposal development. At MDS our scientists to adhere to Good Laboratory Practices (GLP), and all testing can be performed under GLP conditions if required.

Full services custom assay development and sample testing include DNA and RNA quantification in transfected cells, rodent, simian and human systems using TaqMan® chemistry in a GLP environment.

Custom Assay Development: MDS will develop a custom assay of PCR primers and probes that are specific for the researcher's particular genes of interest. The assay includes establishing optimal PCR conditions required for the specific PCR primers, as well as the reporter and quencher probe designed for each project.

Standard Curve Preparation: Comparison to standard curves is used to measure the quantity of target in the unknown samples. MDS prepares a standard curve using authentic, quantified DNA or RNA stocks. The standard samples can be plasmids, PCR amplicon, synthetic DNA or in vitro transcribed cRNA.

Ready-To-Run Taqman ® : The customer designs and synthesizes the primer/probe sets and sets up the PCR plates. We run the plates in an ABI TaqMan® Real-Time Sequence Detection system and assist in analysis of the data. The real-time aspect is accomplished by setting the threshold cycle at a point in the exponential phase of amplification. The precision of the results is determined by the standard curve slope and correlation coefficient. The client's samples are compared to the standard curve. The samples are quantified according to their mean and standard deviation in relation to the standard curve.

Extractions: MDS can extract both RNA and DNA from a variety of tissues. Our experience has allowed us to optimized extraction procedures for high quality results.
