Cell Line Characterization
MDS standard services include both cytogenetic analysis and isoenzyme analysis. All services can be tailored to our client's specific needs.
Karyotyping:
We have broad expertise in banded chromosome analysis for a wide variety of mammalian species (human, mouse, rat, cow, hamster, dog, etc.) and our experience includes analysis of live animals and established adult and embryonic stem cell lines. The standard cytogenetic analysis can be customized to your needs if you have specific requirements different from or not listed here.
- Determination of modal chromosome number (based on count from 100 cells)
- Chromosome harvest of your cells
- Preparation and analysis of 5 G-banded karyotypes
- Chromosome aberration analysis (100 cells)
- Chromosome count distribution (100 cells)
- Chromosome Y probes alone or with chromosome X probe may be used for sex determination in:
- Embryos and fetuses
- Stem cell graft rejection (Sex mismatch)
- Germ-line stem cells
- Prenatal diagnosis
- Identification of tissue contamination in histopathology sections
MDS specializes in providing state of the art comprehensive DNA analyses. The genotypic information is used for animal identification, paternity analysis and transgenic analysis. The following techniques are used for DNA fingerprinting (genotyping) analyses.
- AFLP (Amplified Fragment Length Polymorphism)
- RFLP (Restriction Fragment Length Polymorphism)
- SSR (Simple Sequence Repeat)
- EST (Expressed Sequence Tag)
- SNP (Single Nucleotide Polymorphism)
