Embedding tissues in resin offers several advantages over frozen or paraffin sections:

• Improved morphology.
• Less tissue shrinkage.
• Calcified material may be sectioned without prior decalcification.
• Infiltration of acrylic resins and polymerization can take place at low temperatures.
• Thinner sections may be cut.
